Welcome to Lightner Creek Inn, a Colorado bed and breakfast offering beautiful lodging accommodations in the Rocky Mountains. It would be our pleasure to have come stay with us during your vacation in Durango, CO. We take great joy in offering excellent service, unique B&B amenities, gourmet breakfasts and more. We look forward to meeting you…
Your innkeepers, Scott and Ellen Martin, have learned that coincidences are meant to happen and probably not to be ignored . . .
After a chance meeting in the fall of 1997 Scott and Ellen realized that their paths were meant to cross. Less than five months later, to the happy surprise of friends and family, they were married.
Scott, a former division one soccer coach, decided that all those years of coaching would not be wasted when he and Ellen began to recruit their own team. Ellen, a family practitioner who delivered lots of babies during her 18 years of practice in Olympia WA, agreed.
In 2001 Scott and Ellen traveled to Bucharest, Romania to adopt Nadia (then 4) and Danny (then 3) whose pictures they had first viewed on the internet over a year before! Soon life was far from boring.
Next came Andy, referred to the Martin’s by one of Ellen’s patients as a child from Ethiopia who really needed a home. After a
25 hour trip each way
with a child that spoke NO English, Scott realized what being a parent really meant! Once home with his brother Danny (who by the way is one week older than him) life really got interesting!
Finally, because they realized that three is an odd number (and who wants to be odd?) they found Kali (also from Ethiopia) and the team started to shape up!
Next add water, 5 dogs, 3 cats, a love of travel, food, adventure and hospitality and you have the makings of Innkeepers. In 2005 fate led to Durango, Lightner Creek Inn and the rest they say is history. By the way, if you are coming here to really relax…We keep our home on the other end of the property (“Behind the barn”) to protect your solitude and our sanity!
As part of our business philosophy of being active members of the Durango community, we donate the use of our grounds to area non-profit organizations. We welcome members to contact us to discuss their next treat, meeting or fundraiser.
PS . . . We also love the outdoors, a great meal, a good glass of wine . . . Come stay with us! |
