Five days ago I woke up to 6 inches of snow, 5 days later almost all of the snow has melted from our property. Lightner Creek is melted and flowing over the rock with a vengance. The pond out our back door has melted.
As the snow melts back the flower beds are being uncovered, revealing hundreds of dead plants that had been covered with ice and snow just hours ago.
I went out today to clean up some of the dead plants. As I started to clear the dead branches I could see new growth at the base of the plants. I sat in amazement that plants that were buried in ice and snow just hours ago could be so much alive.
Spring is here at Lightner Creek Inn. We may have a little more snow, but the plantsĀ know.
I can’t wait to see Lightner Creek Inn in full bloom.
