Patra and I ate for the first time today at Kennebec Cafe. It’s a favorite restaurant of the locals. The cafe is located 10 miles west of Durango across from Hesperus Ski area.
Patra and I have had a long tradition of eating breakfast at a restaurant on Sunday morning together.
Kennebec’s was a great experience. We sat near the fireplace with a view of the snow covered moujntains. Kennebec’s is an upscale restaurant with moderate prices. I ordered the apple walnut pancakes with chicken apple sausage. Patra ordered the Lorraine omlette. The presentation of the food was as good as the taste.
Kennebec’s cafe is my new favorite restaurant to eat breakfast. Our of 5 stars, Kennebec’s earned all five.

I recently discovered your web site… I was day dreaming about booking a trip to Durango… this is where my husband and I honeymooned many years ago… and I found your B&B. Kennebec’s is one of our favorite’s too! Hope you are enjoying Colorado – a big change from Texas. My husband is a firefighter also… so I know you know how tough it is for him to escape, BUT, Hoping to visit you soon !!
It’s a great place for a honeymoon, but with another firefighter in the house, you can imagine the stories you and my wife would have to endure. I hope you make it this way soon.
All the best,
Marvin Shafer
